Come join us for the European Eventing Championships tour to Germany in 2019. Experience the history, medieval towns, pretty green forested areas and the beautiful horses. See some of the world’s best compete At the European eventing championship. Come and show support to the Australians or New Zealand riders competing.
Spend a few days in Berlin in this cosmopolitan and vibrant capital city with neighbourhoods like Mitte, Friedrichshain, Prenzlauer Berg, and Kreuzberg bustle with restaurants, cafés, and nightlife. Museums and sights such as the Pergamon on Museum Island, the Brandenburg Gate, and the Jewish Museum provide a window into Berlin’s rich history.
We will spend three days at the Eventing championships and afterwards we will explore Bremen a quaint town with gingerbread houses, an impressive town hall (Rathaus which is a UNESCO listed building built around 1410.) We dine at the Ratskeller restaurant a historical restaurant with 600 years of tradition, 650 German wines, grand hall with ornate wine barrels & columns, vaulted cellar and speciality Bremen fare.
Another place not to be missed is Verden which is famous for its horse breeding and the Verband horse auctions. You will enjoy a guided tour of the horse Museum and afterwards have fun finding famous rider names on the 500 brass horseshoes on the pavement leading from the Große Straße to the Holzmarkt. They are positioned in the four paces of the horse: walk, trot, canter and gallop. Each horseshoe displays the name of its sponsor, among them names of famous German equestrians such as Isabell Werth, Alwin Schockemöhle, Hans-Günter Winkler and Dr. Reiner Klimke.
Another highlight is a visit to Redefin and the Celle state horse studs with guided tours of both the horse studs.
In Hannover we visit the gothic style Marienburg Castle which was built in 1858. Afterwards we visit the beautiful Herrenhauser gardens for a guided walk. The “Great Garden”, is the most important baroque garden in Europe and is a magnet for tourists from all over the world.

Today is at leisure to explore the vibrant city of Berlin with the hop-on hop-off bus city tour. The tour is fully narrated with more than 30 stops and 3 routes. Perhaps today you may like to choose the “Traditional tour” where you will see the iconic landmarks like the Brandenburger Tor, Checkpoint Charlie and much more. Art lovers and museum buffs will be in seventh heaven among all treasures on Museum Island. Shopaholics will have the time of their lives at KaDeWe, Berlin’s enormous department store. After breakfast we leave Berlin behind and travel by coach to the Salzhausen area with a stop en-route at one of Germany’s famous horse studs the Redefin State stud. This evening we will enjoy a dinner at our hotel or local restaurant. (Guided tour of horse stud, coach transfer and dinner.) Overnight Salzhausen area.

Today is the most exciting day with plenty of thrills and spills. See your local Aussie or NZ hero’s and many of the top international riders tackle the cross-country course. (Transfers and entry to the European eventing championships included). Overnight Salzhausen area.

Salzhausen area – Bremen
This morning we have a short drive to Bremen. On arrival enjoy a two hour guided walking tour of the old town of Bremen. Some of the highlights are the town hall, the Roland statue, Böttcherstraße, Marktplatz, Bremen Cathedral and the Town Musicians of Bremen statue from the famous Brothers Grimm tale. Dinner tonight is at the Ratskellers restaurant which is under the Rathaus (town hall) a historical restaurant with 600 years of tradition, 650 German wines, grand hall with ornate wine barrels & columns, vaulted cellar and speciality Bremen fare. (Walking tour and dinner this evening) Overnight Bremen.

This morning we will meet the coach and spend the day sightseeing with a visit to the gothic style Marienburg Castle which was built in 1858. Afterwards we visit the beautiful Herrenhauser gardens for a guided walk. The “Great Garden”, is the most important baroque garden in Europe and is a magnet for tourists from all over the world. This evening enjoy our last dinner together as a group. (Entry to Marienburg Castle and Herrenhauser gardens and farewell dinner). Overnight Hannover.

Frankfurt – Australia
Today is departure day back to Australia. Make your own way to the airport. For some you may decide to stay on and spend more time exploring Germany and other European cities nearby.

On arrival in Berlin transfer to your hotel in the Berlin city centre. If you have made your own arrangements we will meet you at the hotel and we will meet the pre-tour group here tonight as well. This evening enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant (Dinner is included) Overnight Berlin.

Today we travel to Luhmuhlen for the first day of the dressage. If you are an avid shopper you will enjoy a wander around the trade village. Enjoy watching the dressage. There are sure to be plenty of Australian riders competing today. (Transfers to Luhmuhlen and entry ticket included). Overnight Salzhausen area.

This morning after breakfast we meet the coach and transfer to Luhmuhlen for the final day of Show jumping. Today is when the leaders from overnight just have to drop one rail and they will lose their place. It is nail biting stuff and watching the horses jump the fences in front of a packed stadium of people is quite awe inspiring. This evening at leisure. (Transfers and show jumping ticket ) Overnight Salzhausen area.

Bremen – Verden – Celle – Hannover
This morning we meet our coach and drive to Verden to visit the German Horse Museum. A guide will show around the museum and explain the exhibits. Afterwards walk along the street where horse shoes are embedded in the streets of the city of Verden with famous German riders like Rainer Klimke and Isabell Werth. Enjoy lunch at own expense and you might like to visit the towns Cathedral.
Later in the afternoon we arrive at Celle State Horse Stud which is a state-owned facility for horse breeding. Celle’s history is intertwined with the history of the Hanoverian horse breed. Today the state stud is known for its annual stallion parades. Afterwards we drive to Hannover for our overnight stay. (Entry to Horse Museum and Celle State horse stud including english speaking guided tours.) Overnight Hannover.

Hannover – Frankfurt
After a leisurely breakfast we transfer via coach to Frankfurt. Overnight in a hotel near Frankfurt airport. Frankfurt, officially Frankfurt am Main, is the largest city in the German state of Hesse and the fifth-largest city in Germany. This evening you might like to explore the city or just relax prior to your flight back to Australia. Overnight Frankfurt.
