France Overview

Discover the castles and chateaus of the Loire Valley on horseback as part of our tailored luxury riding programs. Our selection of riding routes offer you a unique blend of beautiful scenery, sumptuous food and wine (as you would expect in France) and, of course, quality horses and guiding.

The Loire Valley and its chateaux has charmed visitors for centuries. Its ornate architecture, elaborate decoration and lavishly planted gardens are designed to impress. It became the playground of the French nobility and, ultimately, contributed to their downfall.

Riding from chateaux to chateaux will take you back to the 16th Century when the surrounding land served as royal hunting grounds. Highlights include the Grand Chateaux de Chambord constructed like many others in the distinct French Renaissance style that blended traditional medieval and classical Italian forms.

Enjoy gourmet picnics of local delicacies and elegant candle-lit dinners with fine cuisine.

Riding Level

You should be a confident rider in control of a horse at walk, trot and canter in the open. The Saumur and Normandy rides have a mixed pace, with plenty of chances for some long trots and canters. Our Beauregard to Amboise itineraries offer a more relaxed pace, with fewer opportunities to canter.

We offer a multitude of itineraries in different areas for you to choose from for shorter and longer rides, and different departure dates. Please contact us for further information and details at

Stay overnight in elegant small family-run hotels converted from chateaux and other ancestral homes. Depending on your tour, you may stay in guest accommodation in the grounds, rather than in the chateaus themselves.
