Take part in the annual Calgary Stampede festival, enjoying rodeo shows, musical events, and thrilling attractions, such as the Calgary Midway and Skyride. Continue the journey to Banff, a stunning resort town in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. Visit Lake Louise to witness the hypnotic beauty of its glacier-fed lake and then indulge in a scenic drive via the Icefields Parkway, one of the most beautiful highways in the world. Travel to the astounding Colombia Icefield, the largest ice field in the Rocky Mountains; join the Ice Explorer tour to the Athabasca Glacier; and experience a heart-pounding walk on the glass-floored platform of the Skywalk. Before leaving Banff, climb the peak of Sulphur Mountain through Banff Gondola for more breathtaking views.  Hop on board the elegant Rocky Mountaineer train and admire an array of surprisingly wonderful scenery as you make your way along snow-capped mountains and sparkling lakes and through amazing tunnels. Explore the charming city of Kamloops and continue to Vancouver, witnessing dramatic changes gliding past your window, from desert-like scenery to evergreen environments.

This tour departs from Calgary and ends in Vancouver.

Today is at leisure and you might like to explore downtown Calgary before heading to the Calgary Stampede.  This evening watch the excitement of the the Chuck wagon races and afterwards enjoy the evening show at Stampede Park.

Calgary – Banff

After breakfast, meet your tour director and begin your Rockies adventure. Travel via road to the resort town of Banff in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, where you’ll be based for the next three nights.

Today, head further into the Rockies starting with Lake Louise. Enjoy time here taking in the scenery surrounding the magnificent turquoise, glacier-fed lake before continuing via one of the most scenic highways in the world, the Icefields Parkway. Among the highlights are the Columbia Icefield & Glacier Skywalk. The Columbia Icefield is one of the largest accumulations of ice south of the Arctic Circle and one of the most accessible icefields in North America. Here, you will ride on an Ice Explorer to the middle of the Athabasca Glacier to learn more about its geological features. Next, take in spectacular scenery and a rare view of nature to unbelievable heights on the Glacier Skywalk. This 400-metre (1,640 feet) interpretive boardwalk and glass-floored observation platform extends 30 meters (98 feet) out over the Sunwapta Valley for spectacular views. Return to Banff this afternoon.

A visit to Banff is not complete without experiencing the views from Sulphur Mountain. Ascend to the top in your fully enclosed four-passenger Banff Gondola cabin in record-breaking eight minutes and get a bird’s-eye view of six stunning mountain ranges laid right out before you. This afternoon, explore the Banff at your own leisure. You might like to enjoy an optional two-hour horse ride with the chance to view local wild life and admire the stunning scenery.

 Banff – Kamloops (Rocky Mountaineer)

This morning, your Rocky Mountaineer train journey begins. Enjoy the spectacular array of scenery as you travel between the glacier and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies, over mountain passes and through remarkable tunnels, along rocky lakeshores and across the ranchlands of the interior. Today’s highlights include the Continental Divide, the Spiral Tunnels, Kicking Horse Canyon, Rogers Pass, and Craigellachie, where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven. Breakfast and lunch will be served onboard. Arrival in Kamloops this evening. Spend the evening exploring the city of Kamloops or relaxing in your hotel room. All hotels in Kamloops are of moderate standard: your hotel will be assigned post-booking.

Kamloops – Vancouver (Rocky Mountaineer)

Board the Rocky Mountaineer train at the Kamloops Station. On today’s journey west, you will again see dramatic changes in scenery, from the desert-like environment of the Interior, through winding river canyons and pristine forests, to the Coast and Cascade Mountains and the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley. Breakfast and lunch will be served on-board. Highlights include the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River and the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon. You will arrive in Vancouver in the evening and will be transferred to your hotel.

Your tour ends today after breakfast.  You may like to add on an optional Cruise of the inside passage to Alaska or additional nights in Vancouver.
